Have your hearing aids been sounding “off” lately? You may be due for a hearing aid checkup. Here are some common sound issues you might be experiencing and what they might mean. We can address all of these issues at our in-house repair center.

Common Sound Issues
Some possible issues with sound quality you might be experiencing include:
- Muffled sound or quieted volume
- Distorted sound quality
- Echoey or “tinny” (this is called the occlusion effect)
- Feedback
For muffled or distorted sound, the issue may be that the electrical components in the digital sound processor are wearing out. If you’re experiencing the occlusion effect or feedback, the issue may be an improper fit, earwax buildup in the vent or other physical obstruction. In any of these cases, bring them to us at Aaron's Hearing Aid & Audiology Center so we can check them out.
Minor Fixes Prevent Major Repairs
It’s tempting to believe that you can live with your hearing aids’ reduced sound quality and avoid getting them looked at, but we’d strongly caution against this line of thinking. Your hearing is vital to communication, connection and personal safety; you should never compromise on something so important.
Additionally, what begins as a small, fixable issue could snowball into a major problem that requires an overhaul or even the replacement of your devices. Stay ahead of maintenance and bring it in when issues are still slight and manageable.
